Taxonomy and Discovery

The Aphaena Submaculata was first described by James Duncan in 1843. Over the years, it has been reclassified several times by various entomologists. The current accepted classification is Aphaena Submaculata.

Subspecies

There are three recognized subspecies of Aphaena Submaculata:
1. Aphaena Submaculata Resima (Stal, 1855)
2. Aphaena Submaculata Burmanica (Distant, 1906)
3. Aphaena Submaculata Consanguinea (Distant, 1906)

Study and Research

Recent studies have explored the mitogenome diversity and the phylogenetics of Fulgoridae, including the Aphaena Submaculata. These studies provide valuable insights into the genetic makeup and evolutionary history of this species.

Members of the Fulgoridae family, including the Aphaena Submaculata, are often referred to colloquially as "lanternflies".
